The Hanukkah Festival, also considered as the Festival of Lights is a Jewish holiday that runs for eight days and eight nights, which starts on the 25th day of Kislev, in accordance to the Hebrew calendar . This festival is usually celebrated anytime from the last few weeks of November until the last few weeks of December . This festivity is celebrated to commemorate the rededicate of the Holy (Second) Temple in Jerusalem during the Maccabean Revolt in the BCE second Century.
In this occasion, people celebrate it by lighting candles every night, more specifically, by the kindling of the lights of the unique candelabrum, the nine-branched Menorah or Hanukiah (just one additional light every night). Furthermore, this is also celebrated by singing special songs of hymns and praises, as well as praying their Hallel and eating oil fried food. They also play games and they give the Hanukkah gelt (which in the Yiddish language, means money) to children, and even few gifts .
